From forest to flute...
Having worked as a music teacher since 1996, both in South Africa and the UK, I created New Forest Woodwind in 2013, when I first began offering flute, clarinet and saxophone lessons in Dorset and the New Forest. Since then I have launched a range of handcrafted, meditation flutes, made from carefully selected hardwoods. Forest Flutes are designed to be fun and easy to play, no matter your musical experience, and are perfect for a relaxing session of music making. Turned and pre-bored flute blanks are also available for those wanting to have a go at making a flute of their own…

My musical journey began over 40 years ago, when I first started flute lessons at primary school. Playing the flute quickly became an obsession, ultimately leading me to study flute performance at the University of Cape Town. I have since worked as a music teacher, both in South Africa and the UK, completed my MA in music psychology at the University of Sheffield, and appeared on the BBC demonstrating the flute to young children. More recently, I have shifted my focus to sharing the many benefits that flute playing offers, and have devoted my time to designing and making meditation flutes that can be played and enjoyed by everyone, regardless of age or experience.
